History and philosophy

INITIO Parfums Privés was founded in Paris in 2015 by Julien Sprecher, who had previously established Parfums de Marly. Where that maison looked to the opulence of the eighteenth century, INITIO moves in the opposite direction: its starting point is fragrance as an object of power — one capable of acting on perception, emotion, and instinct. The brand's Latin name carries two complementary meanings: «from the beginning», understood as a return to the origins of perfume as a transformative force, and «to begin», as an opening towards a new dimension of being.

The house describes itself as «neo-perfumery» and builds its identity around the concept of functional fragrance: compositions designed to amplify specific emotional states such as wellbeing, self-confidence, and desire. INITIO works with a selected group of external perfumers — among them Alexandra Kosinski, Pierre-Constantin Guéros, Maurice Roucel, and Alberto Morillas — rather than relying on a single in-house nose. Formulas combine natural ingredients with advanced synthetic molecules; oud, musk, rose, warm spices, and amber bases recur throughout, rendered in a unisex register with high olfactory intensity. The entire range is produced in France and is available primarily as eau de parfum.
