Why Body Cream Makes Perfume Last Longer

Scent molecules evaporate more slowly from a lipid-rich surface. Dry skin releases them quickly; skin nourished with plant butters and oils holds on to them, giving a more gradual development and a rounder trail.

This is why, in artistic perfumery, body cream is not an accessory: it is the step that decides how long you will actually be wearing your fragrance.

Textures: Which One to Choose

• Body lotion — light and fast-absorbing, ideal for summer and normal skin.
• Cream — the middle ground, balancing nourishment with everyday comfort.
• Body butter — rich in shea or cocoa, for dry skin, elbows, knees and cold months.
• Body oil — applied to damp skin after showering, it leaves a luminous satin finish.

How to Apply It

The best moment is right after the shower, while the skin is still slightly damp: the remaining water helps the actives absorb. Massage in circular motions and wait a few minutes before spraying your perfume, so the alcohol does not clash with cream still sitting on the surface.

If the house offers an exact match to your fragrance, that is the most coherent choice. Otherwise, an unscented neutral cream works just as well as a fixative.
