Jusbox: Italian Artistic Perfumes Inspired by Music
An Italian artistic perfume maison founded in 2016 by Chiara and Andrea Valdo, within the Beauty San group. The brand's concept rests on a single governing idea: every fragrance is the olfactory translation of a genre, an era, or an icon from twentieth-century music, expressed through a recognisable aesthetic that combines high-concentration essences with packaging devoted entirely to the culture of vinyl.

History and philosophy
Jusbox Perfumes launched in May 2016 as the entrepreneurial venture of Chiara Valdo and Andrea Valdo, co-CEOs of the Beauty San group, an Italian company with more than twenty-five years in prestige cosmetics. The debut collection, Icons, was presented exclusively at Selfridges in London — establishing the brand's position within international artistic perfumery from the very outset. An in-house creative studio called V-Monkeys coordinates the development of all olfactory projects and oversees every aesthetic and conceptual decision.
The founding vision is captured in the brand's own motto: music has a scent. Chiara and Andrea Valdo grew up in a family immersed in the worlds of beauty and music, and chose to bring those two sensibilities together in a product that translates rhythm, melody, and culture into wearable compositions. Music serves here as an accessible narrative code — a way into the language of perfumery through something universally shared.
The style
Jusbox's raw materials are developed in collaboration with internationally renowned laboratories, including LMR in Grasse, and are selected with close attention to quality and sustainability. The fragrances are formulated as eau de parfum at 20% concentration, housed in a 78 ml bottle — a figure that is far from arbitrary, being a tribute to the earliest phonograph records that revolved at 78 rpm. The cap echoes the shape of a vinyl record, and every outer box evokes a CD digipak, complete with a booklet tracing the genesis of each creation. The perfumers involved rank among the foremost names in the industry worldwide.
- Collaborations with master perfumers including Dominique Ropion, Antoine Lie, Julien Rasquinet, Dominique Moellhausen, Nelly Hachem-Ruiz, and Claire Liégent.
- Predominant olfactory families: woody ambers, orientals, powdery florals, leather, and gourmand — with a consistent preference for dense, long-lasting constructions.
- Every fragrance is anchored to a specific musical genre or era, from 1970s psychedelia to acid house, jazz to bossa nova.
- A single 78 ml eau de parfum format, with a 7.8 ml travel size, both part of a packaging system laden with symbolic meaning.
- A commitment to corporate responsibility: sustainability and the ethical sourcing of raw materials are stated as core values throughout the production process.
The best-known fragrances
The Jusbox catalogue spans more than twenty unisex eaux de parfum, each with its own musical identity. Among the references that have defined the brand's reputation:
- 14Hour Dream — composed by Antoine Lie, this woody oriental is inspired by the psychedelic rock of Pink Floyd; patchouli dominates the heart, accompanied by buttery iris, vanilla, and saffron, in a deliberately direct accord that dispenses with top notes entirely.
- Beat Café — the work of Dominique Ropion, it conjures the atmosphere of the cafés frequented by the Beat Generation in the early 1960s, built around cognac, pepper, tobacco, leather, and vetiver within a woody amber structure.
- Black Powder — created by Julien Rasquinet, this leather fragrance opens with blackcurrant and allspice before moving into a heart of suede, tobacco, and incense, over a base of tonka bean, patchouli, and sandalwood.
- Cheeky Smile — signed by Dominique Moellhausen and inspired by the hypnotic energy of acid house, it is built almost entirely on synthetic molecules such as Iso E Super, Ambroxan, and Cashmeran, representing the brand's most contemporary and minimalist side.
- Feather Supreme — also by Dominique Ropion, this powdery floral pays homage to 1960s soul, combining bergamot, tuberose, and jasmine over a base of musk, patchouli, and labdanum.
