Jeroboam: Concentrated Niche Perfumes from Paris

Parisian artistic perfumery maison founded in 2015 by François Hénin, previously the founder of Jovoy. Its defining signature is a line of extrait de parfum in compact 30 ml flacons, each built around a base of enigmatic musks and conceived for demanding everyday wear.

History and philosophy

Jeroboam was born in Paris in 2015 from an idea shared by François Hénin — founder of the Jovoy perfumeries — and perfumer Vanina Muracciole. The starting point was an olfactory musk base, christened Origino, which the two developed as a shared creative exploration before they had even conceived of a maison. That base became the thread running through an entire universe: every subsequent fragrance inherits its structure, enriching it with different families and raw materials.

The brand name is a deliberate oxymoron: a Jeroboam is a three-litre bottle format, while the maison's flacons hold just 30 ml. The idea is to concentrate the highest possible olfactory intensity into the most pocket-friendly format imaginable. The fragrance names are coined in Esperanto, the universal language invented at the end of the nineteenth century, in keeping with the maison's ambition to speak to an audience with no geographical boundaries — what Hénin calls «urban nomads».

The style

The entire collection is the work of Vanina Muracciole, an independent perfumer who collaborates exclusively with the maison. Every extrait is built on Origino's proprietary musk base, then interpreted across distinct olfactory families: oriental, floral, woody-leather, and fruity chypre. The result is a range that feels coherent yet varied, in which a high concentration of raw materials ensures longevity and projection without weighing down the compositions.

  • Every title is released as an extrait de parfum, with a concentration of raw materials above the niche segment's average.
  • The enigmatic musk base runs throughout the entire line, lending a consistent stylistic identity to the catalogue.
  • The 30 ml glossy glass flacons — black, orange, or white — are designed with daily portability in mind.
  • The olfactory families range from floral oriental to woody-leather and fruity chypre, always maintaining a contemporary, sensorial register.
  • All fragrances are unisex by design, even when they lean towards a more feminine or masculine character.

The best-known products

The collection comprises sixteen titles. Below are the maison's most recognisable references, representative of the stylistic breadth the line has achieved over the years.

  • Origino — The maison's first extrait, launched in 2015. Bergamot and pink pepper open, juniper and nutmeg form the heart, with a base of sandalwood and white musk. It is the olfactory cornerstone of the entire collection.
  • Gozo — A floral oriental extrait from 2020, born from a collaboration with a Middle Eastern admirer of the house. Notes of tuberose and saffron at the top, cedar and violet leaves at the heart, with a base of patchouli, ambroxan, and white musk.
  • Ambra — Launched in 2017, this belongs to the woody oriental family. An opening of bergamot, geranium, and incense; a heart of Peru balsam and patchouli; a base of vetiver, vanilla, tonka bean, and musks.
  • Unue — A floral woody musk from 2020. Pineapple, pink pepper, and bergamot open onto a heart of Egyptian jasmine and ylang-ylang; the base is Australian sandalwood, patchouli, and white musk.
  • Kun Amo — A fruity chypre from 2025. Caramelised pear, mandarin, and bergamot open; jasmine and marine facets form the heart; cedar, white musks, and amber notes bring it to a close.
