History and philosophy

Fugazzi was founded in Amsterdam in 2018 by Bram Niessink, a Dutch entrepreneur who grew up close to the cosmetics industry. The driving conviction behind the brand was that the sector was in need of greater imagination: Niessink built Fugazzi on intuition and curiosity rather than established formulas, experimenting with olfactory composition himself before bringing professional perfumers on board.

The name itself encapsulates the brand's spirit: "fugazzi" draws on the Italian-American slang term "fugazi" — something elusive, not entirely real — and rewrites it by replacing the letter "z" with the Cyrillic character "Д", making even the word for "fake" itself a fake. The result is a deliberately slippery brand identity, one that uses fragrance as a trigger for personal memory rather than as a recognisable signature.

The style

Fugazzi fragrances are formulated in Europe using selected essential oils and contain no parabens. They are offered in two concentrations: eau de parfum at 20% fragrance oils and extrait de parfum ranging from 30% to 50% depending on the title. The entire catalogue is genderless, spanning woody-musky and oriental gourmand families, with frequent use of cutting-edge synthetic molecules alongside natural raw materials. Perfumers who have collaborated with the brand include Valerie Garnuch-Mentzel, Ilias Ermenidis, and Julien Rasquinet.

  • High concentrations: the extraits reach up to 50% fragrance oils, delivering pronounced longevity and sillage.
  • Minimalist aesthetic: clean, functional flacons paired with direct and often irreverent names that reflect the brand's character.
  • Genderless by design: the entire collection is conceived without distinction of gender.
  • Recurring families: woody-musky, oriental-gourmand, fruity-spicy, and citrus-fresh.
  • Narrative approach: each fragrance is presented as a structured olfactory story unfolding through top, heart, and base notes.

Best-known products

The catalogue spans more than forty references. Among the titles that have attracted the most attention from the fragrance community:

  • Angel Dust — An eau de parfum and extrait in a woody-musky style built around cashmeran, with Calabrian bergamot, pepper, and white amber; intimate and close-wearing in character.
  • Passionfroudh — An oriental-woody extrait by Ilias Ermenidis, opening with tropical passion fruit and mango over a base of agarwood and cypriol.
  • Workaholic — A gourmand-spicy extrait with coffee up top, Bulgarian rose and nutmeg at the heart, and a base of amber, Australian sandalwood, and tonka.
  • NoCologne — A citrus-fresh extrait that reinterprets the classic cologne with 30% fragrance oils; Calabrian bergamot, grapefruit, sage, and vetiver.
  • Cash Flower — A floral-spicy eau de parfum featuring rose petals, pepper, cashmere wood, and sandalwood; a modern structure with confident projection.
