History and philosophy

Franck Boclet is a French designer who grew up in a family steeped in the textile industry. Before founding his own maison in 2010, he had helmed the menswear lines of some of the most distinguished houses in French and international fashion, including Kenzo, Francesco Smalto and Emanuel Ungaro. In 2012 the maison turned to perfumery, conceiving its fragrances as a natural extension of the same aesthetic vision that drives its clothing: that same tension between classicism and rebellion.

The founder describes himself as a «Couturier-Caméléon» — a creator capable of moving between different registers without losing coherence. This dual identity, sartorial rigour and rock spirit, runs through every aspect of the olfactory output, from the bold, material-driven profiles of the Fragrance Collection to the denser, more concentrated volumes of the Rock & Riot line.

The style

Franck Boclet fragrances are built around a single starring raw material, often declared in the title itself: tobacco, leather, patchouli, oud, incense. Concentrations are high — the eau de parfum range sits at around 20% — and the olfactory character favours projection and longevity over discretion. Perfumers who have collaborated with the house over the years include Bruno Hervé, Mélanie Leroux, Fabienne Bourcier, Alexis Dadier and Sidonie Lancesseur. The dominant fragrance families are oriental, chypre and woody, with frequent forays into gourmand and animalic territory.

  • Fragrance Collection — The main line, launched in 2012: 24 eau de parfum at 20% concentration, each centred on a precise material accord.
  • Rock & Riot — Black Edition — Extrait de parfum inspired by the rock aesthetic of the 1970s and 1980s, with denser, longer-lasting olfactory volumes.
  • Rock & Riot — Ivory Edition — The brighter, more contemporary interpretation of the extrait line, with compositions of a unisex character.
  • Extrait de Parfum Collection — Extrait-concentration reissues of the maison's most iconic titles, presented in redesigned flacons.

The best-known fragrances

The catalogue runs to over fifty references; below are some of the most representative of the maison's signature style.

  • Tobacco — One of the maison's earliest releases, built on a tobacco accord with a warm, enveloping base; among the most frequently cited titles by niche perfumery enthusiasts.
  • Leather — One of the four inaugural fragrances of 2013, centred on a leather accord with a dry, intense structure and a direct expression of Boclet's sartorial vocabulary.
  • Patchouli — The founder's favoured raw material, presented here in a deep, earthy interpretation with a woody, resinous base.
  • Santal — A more recent fragrance, opening with lively spices and resolving into a heart of sandalwood, tonka bean and musks: the maison's most contemporary and sensual face.
  • Cashmere — A citrus opening, a spiced-leather heart and an amber-woody base: one of the most versatile and wearable propositions in the Fragrance Collection.
