Francesca Bianchi: Independent Artistic Perfumes from Amsterdam
An artistic perfume house founded in 2016 in Amsterdam by Italian perfumer Francesca Bianchi. Self-taught, with a background in art publishing, she creates every fragrance entirely by hand in her own studio, drawing on precious raw materials and a distinctly sensual, animalic and deeply personal olfactory signature. All fragrances are released as extraits de parfum.
History and philosophy
Francesca Bianchi was born in Italy, where she studied Art History with a focus on the twentieth century. After years working in art book publishing and a life lived between Florence, Berlin, Luxembourg and finally Amsterdam, she chose to follow the vocation that had accompanied her since childhood: perfumery. Entirely self-taught, she developed her craft through the study of raw materials and hands-on experimentation, launching her brand in 2016 with an inaugural trio of fragrances.
Francesca Bianchi's creative process is deliberately long and solitary: each formula can take anywhere from six months to four years before she considers it ready. Raw materials are sourced from a trusted supplier in Grasse, France; production — maceration in alcohol, filtration, bottling and packaging — takes place in an artisanal atelier in Milan. The result is a line of limited-edition extraits de parfum distributed through a carefully chosen handful of specialist retailers.
The style
The brand's olfactory identity revolves around oriental, powdery and woody fragrance families, enriched by animalic accords and notes of buttery iris, musk, patchouli and resins. The approach is openly emotional: each composition is born from the intention of evoking a specific feeling, building olfactory architectures that layer memories and sensations on the wearer. A careful balance of quality natural ingredients and selected synthetic molecules ensures both projection and lasting power.
- Fragrances in extrait de parfum concentration, with exceptional longevity on skin and a confident sillage.
- Animalic and powdery accords with recurring use of iris, musk, castoreum and balsamic resins.
- Artistic and literary inspiration: every title refers to a precise emotion, image or text.
- Handcrafted production in limited runs, with raw materials sourced largely from Grasse.
- An adult, unconventional sensibility, far removed from the codes of mainstream perfumery.
The best-known fragrances
The Francesca Bianchi collection includes titles that have won a devoted following within the international artistic perfumery community, thanks to their intensity and their ability to leave a lasting impression.
- Angel's Dust — One of the three founding fragrances of 2016. Powdery and animalic, built around iris and musk, with a voluptuous, almost vintage quality.
- Under My Skin — A unisex oriental woody launched in 2017. Black pepper, iris and clove open onto a base of leather, castoreum and amber: one of the densest and most enveloping compositions in the catalogue.
- Sticky Fingers — A rock-chic patchouli rendered in a decadent register, with tobacco, iris and leather notes. Evocative and direct.
- Lost in Heaven — An emotional, powdery fragrance that explores the tension between nostalgia and sensuality within a complex, unhurried structure.
- Tyger Tyger — Inspired by the William Blake poem of the same name, this is one of the most dramatic and narcotic titles in the collection: a dark floral with smoky, animalic accords.
