Electimuss London: Niche Perfumes Inspired by Ancient Rome
Electimuss London is an independent, founder-led British niche perfume house, active since 2014. Based in London, the maison builds each fragrance around the sensory aesthetic of ancient Rome, expressed through extrait de parfum of high concentration and pronounced projection.
History and philosophy
Electimuss London was founded in 2014 as an independent venture by two founders — Luke and Jason — united by a shared passion for the olfactory history of ancient Rome. The brand name derives from the Latin electimuss, evoking the idea of choosing only the finest: a principle that informs every stage of production, from the sourcing of raw materials to the craftsmanship of the bottle.
The maison operates without compromise on quality: every fragrance is formulated as an extrait de parfum, with a concentration of pure oils ranging from 25 to 35%. The bottles, crafted from worked glass with metal caps, draw formally on Roman architecture and symbolism, making each object an integral part of the brand experience.
The style
Electimuss compositions move primarily within oriental, woody, and floriental families, drawing frequently on prized ingredients such as Iranian oud, resins, amber, Bulgarian rose, and Silk Road spices. The maison collaborates with external perfumers — among them Christian Provenzano, Marco Genovese, Sofia Bardelli, and David Chieze — who are afforded considerable creative freedom. The result is fragrances of genuine complexity that develop slowly on the skin and leave a long-lasting trail.
- The compositions favour citrus or spiced openings that evolve towards warm, resinous bases, following a narrative logic consistent with each Roman theme.
- The use of oud, labdanum, frankincense, and ambergris lends the fragrances an oriental depth that has become a recognisable hallmark of the house.
- Each title is associated with a figure or concept from Roman culture — spanning mythology, imperial figures, and the deities of the classical pantheon.
- The range stretches from airy, citrus-led fragrances to decidedly rich and sensual compositions, offering an unusually broad register for an independent house of this scale.
The best-known products
Since its launch, Electimuss has built a catalogue of over forty references. Among the titles that have attracted the most attention from niche perfumery enthusiasts:
- Imperium — An oriental-floral extrait de parfum launched in 2020. It opens on bergamot and coriander, unfolds into a broad heart of white flowers, saffron, and rose, and settles on a base of oud, vanilla, and amber. One of the house's most recognisable offerings.
- Mercurial Cashmere — A floral woody musky composition from 2021, signed by Sofia Bardelli. Pink pepper, cardamom, and bergamot open onto a heart of tuberose, iris, and violet; the base shifts to caramel, tonka, vanilla, and cashmere wood with a touch of oud.
- Puritas — A resinous oriental from 2020, composed by Christian Provenzano. Notes of wormwood, elemi, and pink pepper introduce a floral heart resting on a base of labdanum, amber, and patchouli. Inspired by the goddess Vesta.
- Trajan — A woody aromatic from 2020, with a citrus opening of blood orange, bergamot, and mandarin, a heart of lavender, sage, and saffron, and a base of ambergris, cedarwood, and oakmoss. Signed by perfumer Marco Genovese.
- Amber Aquilaria — One of the maison's earliest references, centred on bergamot, rose, and a warm base of amber, sandalwood, and oud extracted from the Aquilaria tree.
